Colby Long was born in Seattle, Washington in 1975. Colby began an apprenticeship as a tattoo artist in Greenville, North Carolina in 2001 after studying for a Bachelor's degree in Art History at East Carolina University.

He has since worked from Honolulu to New York City and many cities in between. Known for his power of understatement, besides traveling and tattooing, Colby's interests also include watercolor painting and skateboarding.
